At Crestar, we have a canvas stretching machine that enables us to achieve uniform tension across the fabric. We can stretch an existing painting on canvas, or make you a custom blank canvas. All of our canvas is gessoed so that it is ready for painting.  

• Stretching: This involves stretching the canvas tightly over a wooden frame called stretcher bars. The canvas is typically stapled or tacked to the back of the frame, pulling it taut to create a smooth surface for painting or displaying artwork. This step requires precision to ensure the canvas is stretched evenly without any wrinkles or sagging.
• Mounting: If stretching the canvas isn't an option, mounting it on a solid backboard presents an attractive alternative. This method is particularly beneficial when you wish to preserve the entirety of the image without losing any part to the stretching process.
