Refresh with Crestar: Spring Cleaning & Thinking Ahead

It's Time to Shed Off the Layers of Winter (And Your Old Frames)

That's right, though the cold still treads on March is the perfect month to get a headstart on preparing ourselves for all the magic spring has to bring. While we might not be the first on your spring-cleaning checklist, we know this is the start of home improvement season. Which is perfect as March is a time of awakening and refreshing. Really, we should all be gearing up to finish those projects we saved for that "later" we're always talking about.

On your journey of looking through design magazines, sample paint swatches, and new cleaning hacks for the warmer months, keep in mind your picture frames. Are your current frames going to fit into your new interior stylings? Are your picture frames still in good condition? Are the photographs/artworks experiencing any warping or water damage? Are there cracks in the glass? This is the time to start asking these questions! Especially, since we're able to fix & reframe those pieces for you.

What Can Crestar Do for Your Damaged Frames?

  1.   We can replace broken glass or upgrade what you have.
  2.  Repair damaged frames (within reason, and after a consultation).
  3. Scan and re-touch damaged photos and artworks to be printed.
  4. Remove yellowed or warped mats and replace with new ones.
  5. Upgrade your frames to be archival & U.V. protected!

What You Can Do for Your Frames:

  1.   Make sure your hanging-hardware is appropriate for the weight of your piece/still in good condition.
  2. Keep a dehumidifier in damp rooms / basements with at-risk framing projects. *
  3. If you're moving a framed artwork you care about, wrap it in a blanket or plastic sheet before setting it down to avoid getting knicks & cracks on your frame.
  4. Avoid opening a frame to ensure dust & debris doesn't get trapped between the work and the glass.

Say Goodbye to Winter Blues (and Greys)

Sometimes the most radical and life-bringing thing you can do for your home is brighten things up. Interior Design trends are reflecting this as we are moving away from the era of "millennial grey" onto "millennial green" (as a gen-z writer I'm not sure why we're sticking to the millennial distinctions, but here we are). Moreso, maximalism & human-centric design is on the radar. Thankfully Crestar can provide picture frames in any category -- but especially in a way that highlights what makes you, you.

A Curated Selection of Our Green Frames:

Fotiou: Urban Mills        AMPF: Giovana IV        Bella: Malecon, Parrot Green

FPF: Green Sparkle         Bella: Parade, Grass Green        Fotiou: Allegro, Green Lacquer

Our Past Maximalist-Ready Projects:

You know what else we can do? Match your frames to the hardware in your home-- yes we have frames for that!

Not ready to say goodbye to grey? Here's a tidbit from Better Homes & Gardens to freshen it up:

"Usher in a sense of vibrancy with warm hues to refresh your space. [Erika] Woelfel suggests incorporating elements like picture frames and throw pillows in shades of yellow or red to create lively accents in a gray color palette. "Grays pair well with light wood tones in modern furniture, adding a sleek, contemporary feel," she notes."**

Some Examples of Red & Yellow Frame Projects:

We hope we were able to inspire you this March to start thinking about your spring design projects & take a peek at the condition of your old frames. Regardless, our framers are here to help. Need some help pairing frames to your interiors? Come in with some pictures of your space and we can go over some options.

Beautiful work – thank you for the refresh of this painting! The red frame is perfect for it :)

Kathy

I like your blog. Thank you for featuring my piece (peace sign) in it. I think you missed an opportunity when you showed it lying down. The piece is 4’4”w x6’4”h framed. In the photo it looks small. I know when you have enormous space things don’t look big- when I hung that piece in my space – it filled the entire space.
I think you should do a blog on size b/c size matters. Show us something tiny that you framed. Show us the huge things. Maybe a future blog topic. Remind ppl you can do custom even though you know they know this. Get them to move off the couch or stop putting off framing or reframing.
Other ideas:
Have a show in your space – regularly.
When I lived in NYC art is everywhere. I miss not seeing art everywhere
Sell more art- The origami swans with the cut mat remind me of pop art and you can frame pop art words and sell them.
Have some things at a lower price point. “A sale area” even if it’s not on sale – featured frame etc.
You do not need to post my comments – except the thank you part. I just needed to write it before I forgot to say it. Love you guys.
